Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon starrer ‘Bachchhan Paandey‘ that collected Rs 13 crore on Day 1 has seen a drop on Saturday and as per early estimates the film collected in the Rs 11 crore nett range. Vivek Agnihotri‘s ‘The Kashmir Files‘ seems unstoppable as its estimated collections jumped to Rs 24-25 crore nett range, reports boxofficeindia.com.

Despite competition from ‘Bachchhan Paandey’, ‘The Kashmir Files’ registered its highest day collection on Saturday and a bigger collection is expected on Sunday, the report further stated. The film became the highest grosser Hindi film post pandemic in East Punjab.

‘The Kashmir Files’, that crossed Rs 100 crore in 7 days, is ruling the headlines with reactions pouring in from all corners. The film, which focuses on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s, has been mired in controversy with the BJP and the opposition parties having conflicting views on it. On one side, the film garnered support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and many others, on the other side, it is also being criticised for showing half truth. The Central government has accorded ‘Y’ category security cover to director Vivek Agnihotri with CRPF cover pan India.

On the other hand, ‘Bachchhan Paandey’ is the remake of the 2014 Tamil film ‘Veeram’. Akshay plays the role of a gangster, while Kriti plays a journalist. With SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ releasing next week, the collections of the film will be further impacted.
