Benelli to launch Hungary-based Keeway Motors in India



Benelli India is working to launch the Hungary-based Keeway Motors in the Indian market on 17th May 2022. Keeway Motors is a part of China’s Zhejiang Qianjiang Motorcycle Group, the parent company of Benelli.
The motorcycle manufacturer has today released a teaser video with a caption, “Feel the power, experience the storm!” However, the teaser does not provide any information about the model to be launched in India.
There are expectations though that Keeway Motors might unveil a 500cc cruiser bike that will share the components with Benelli and a 270cc maxi scooter in India on 17th May 2022. The manufacturer deals in the 250cc two-wheeler category and recently decided to build 500cc motorcycles. As per the reports, the upcoming Keeway motorcycle will share similarities with the Benelli 502C with a few changes in suspension and power output.

In terms of pricing, we can expect the 500cc motorcycle to retail at Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom) similar to the Benelli 502C. Speaking of the 270cc maxi-scooter, it will likely be based on the Keeway GT270 that will be introduced in India with a different name. Mechanically, the maxi scooter will be powered by a Piaggio-sourced liquid-cooled engine that will generate [email protected],500 rpm and [email protected],000 rpm, mated to a CVT unit.
The maxi scooter will sit on a KYB upright fork with a travel of 35 mm at the front and KYB dual shock setup at the rear. Braking duties will be handled by ABS and J. Juan calipers with 240 mm discs.
Currently, Keeway Motors exports the two-wheelers to Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Philippines to name a few.
