BMW i4 electric sedan to mark its India debut on 28th April: Launch by mid-2022

BMW India is gearing up to unveil its all-electric i4 sedan in the Indian market on 28th April. The luxury carmaker revealed this information at the India Art Fair where it showcased the one-off iX electric SUV.
After BMW iX and recently-launched Mini Electric, the BMW i4 will be the third electric car to mark its India entry in the carmaker’s line-up. Built on the new-gen 4 series, the all-electric i4 sedan will likely get a big front grille, a signature coupe roofline, LED headlamps and blue accents as optional.
Speaking of the BMW i4 interior, it will come equipped with a massive 14.9-inch control screen, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with iDrive8 software.
In the international market, the electric i4 sedan is offered in 2 variants – M50 sedan and eDrive40 Gran Coupe. According to the media reports, BMW India will primarily introduce the eDrive40 Gran Coupe variant across the country.

Technically, the BMW i4 will make use of a 81.4 kWH battery coupled with an electric motor cumulatively producing a max power of 330 hp and a peak torque of 430 Nm. According to the WLTP cycle, the i4 e-sedan will offer 483 km range per charge, as per company claims.
The sportier i4 M50 variant will be powered by twin electric motors offering a massive power output of 529 hp. It is paired with a xDrive all-wheel-drive system and offers a range of 394 km, the company states. The BMW i4 battery can be charged up to 200 kW in just 10 minutes using a DC fast charger. With a normal charger, the i4 electric sedan can take up to 8 hours to charge 100%.
