Honda India Power Products today announced its foray into the Marine Outboard business with its four-stroke engine range in India from April 2022.
The brand will introduce a four-stroke marine outboard motors range for boat operators engaged in maritime border security, commercial fishing and taxi boat services. These four-stroke motors will be available at a price of Rs 1.8 lakh for 6 hp and Rs 23 lakh for 250 hp.
The company said that the marine industry is likely to grow up to Rs 1,400 crore in size and Honda India Power aims to capture 10% market share in the four-stroke market in the first three years.
With India having a coastline of over 8,000 km, Honda India Power sees big market potential in coastal regions like Kerala, Goa and the Andamans.
Commenting on the launch, Takahiro Ueda, Chairman and Managing Director, President and CEO of Honda India Power Products Limited said, “We are happy to announce the introduction of Honda 4-stroke Marine Outboard Motors range today for the boat operators and various government agencies engaged in maritime security, coast guard, taxi boat services for passengers and tourist, and fishermen engaged in commercial fishing in sea and inland river systems.”

With a production facility in Greater Noida, HIPP manufactures water pumps, portable generators and engines, and has an annual capacity of 3.5 lakh units.
