Kia EV6 India brochure leaked: Supercar performance with 500+ km range

Kia is gearing up to launch its all-electric EV6 crossover in the Indian market by later-2022. The brand will commence the EV6 bookings from 26th May and the first batch will be limited to just 100 units due to global supply constraints. We had mentioned earlier that the electric crossover will be available specifically in a GT Line variant in India and that now looks to be true in the leaked brochure.
The leaked official brochure of Kia EV6 reveals more details about the upcoming crossover in Indian spec.
According to the leaked brochure, the India-spec Kia EV6 could be offered in two powertrain options, including the Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD). However, the company is yet to make an official confirmation on the same and we can’t rule out the possibility of only the GT-Line RWD model being introduced in India to start with. Both versions will make use of a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery. The RWD single motor variant churns out 225 hp power and 350 Nm torque, while the AWD dual-motor variant produces 321 hp power and 605 Nm torque.

The Kia EV6 RWD will offer a range up to 528 km (WLTP) per charge, while the Kia EV6 AWD will have a range of 425 km. The brand claims that the EV6 in AWD version goes from 0-100 kmph in barely 3.5 seconds. The RWD model on the other hand will take a little over five seconds for the 0-100 kmph sprint.
The lithium-ion battery can be charged from 0-80% in just 18 minutes with a 350 kW fast charger, while it takes around 73 minutes to charge from 0-80% using a 50 kW fast charger. It should be noted that the fast-chargers available commonly in India right now mostly include the 50 kW chargers. It’ll be interesting to see if Kia offers higher capacity chargers at its dealerships.
Moving on to the Kia EV6 features, the GT Line AWD variant gets an Augmented Reality heads-up display, automatic flush door handles, powered tailgate and more. Some key highlights of the EV6 include 12.3-inch dual-screen setup, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, 10-way power-adjustable front seats, paddle shifters for regeneration, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging and multi-drive modes. If you go for the RWD version, some of these features will be knocked off or will be offered in a lower spec in interest of a lower price.
In terms of safety, the EV6 comes equipped with a host of features, such as 8 airbags, ESC and all-wheel disc brakes with ABS and Brake Assist. The electric crossover also gets Advanced Driver Assistance System features that include Lane Keep Assist, Blind-spot Detection with Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist and Safe Exit Assist.

According to the brochure, the Kia EV6 will be available in five colour options, including Moonscape, Runway Red, Snow White Pearl, Yacht Blue and Aurora Black Pearl. The RWD version is likely to be priced around 65 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival the likes of Hyundai Ioniq 5 once launched. The AWD version, if launched, would command a significant premium over the RWD version.
