Kia India records 18.44% YoY growth: Seltos, Carens are in high demand

Kia India recorded a domestic sales of 22,622 units in the month of March with a YoY growth of 18.44%. With 8,415 units, the Seltos remained the best-selling car for Kia last month. The recently-launched Kia Carens also joined the league by garnering 7,008 units.
Speaking of the Kia Sonet and Kia Carnival sales figures, both of them have contributed well. The former registered 6,871 units while the latter posted a total of 328 units in March 2022. With the highest monthly sales in India, Kia has a market share of 7% in the domestic passenger vehicle market. Moreover, Kia India recorded its highest-ever quarterly sales of 60,062 units with a 9.5% YoY growth as compared to the last year.
In FY 21-22, Kia posted 1,86,787 unit sales despite the semiconductor shortage and supply chain disruption. The company registered a YoY growth of 20% as the Sonet and Seltos garnered 40% and 51% respectively to domestic sales of FY22.
Commenting on the development, Hardeep Singh Brar, VP and Head of Sales & Marketing of Kia India said, “2022 has been a good year for us so far as we have been able to sustain our positive sales momentum in the past quarter. Our growing sales number can be attributed to our recently launched Carens, which has won Indian customers’ hearts.”
He further added, “While we are happy with the growing demand for Kia Cars in the country, we are well aware of the long waiting periods and hence we have commenced the production in three shifts at our Anantapur facility. We are still in the recovery phase, as the semiconductor shortage remains a concern, which has affected our planned production. However, we assure our customers that we are vigilant of the trends globally and taking adequate measures to keep the waiting periods in check. ”
Recently, the Kia Carens crossed the 50,000 bookings milestone and registered 12,117 units in just one and half months of the launch.
