Long-range Tata Nexon EV India launch on May 11: Range to get better



After being spotted testing multiple times, the Tata Nexon EV long-range is all set to be launched in the Indian market on May 11. The company is working rigorously to further expand its portfolio of EVs as it showcased the new Avinya electric concept on Friday.
The long-range Tata Nexon EV will sit above the existing Nexon EV. The updated Nexon EV will receive a host of features, including a new set of alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and more. Else, the exterior will remain largely the same as that of the current model.
In terms of interior, the long-range Nexon EV will likely follow the existing model’s features, excluding the upholstery. The cabin will come equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic AC and single-pane sunroof. In addition, the company will also offer ventilated front seats, an auto-dimming IRVM and an air purifier in the 2022 Tata Nexon EV long-range.
New Battery
Tata Motors is likely to offer a bigger 40 kWh battery pack mated to an electric motor that will together generate 136 PS power. The current Nexon EV gets power from a 30.2 kWh battery pack and an electric motor cumulatively producing 129 PS power and 245 Nm torque. On a single charge, the present EV claims an ARAI range of 312 km. The new version is expected to have a claimed range upwards of 400 km on a single charge.
More Safety Features
The new Tata Nexon EV is likely to get more safety features, such as Cruise Control, Electronic Stability Control and Park Mode.
Expected Price and Rivals
The new Nexon EV will cost Rs 3-4 lakh more than the current model that is priced from Rs 14.54 lakh-Rs 17.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Once launched, it will compete with its potential rivals, namely the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric.
