Toyota Kirloskar Motor today announced that it will increase prices across its complete model range by up to 4% from 1st April. The company said in a statement that the car prices are being hiked owing to the increasing input costs such as raw materials.
The company has made all conscious efforts to minimise the impact of rising costs on consumers, it said in a statement.
Currently, Toyota retails six models in the Indian market. These include Innova Crysta, Fortuner, Glanza, Vellfire, Urban Cruise and Camry. The carmaker recently launched the 2022 Toyota Glanza premium hatchback at a price of Rs 6.39 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). The hatchback gets new LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a 9.0-inch Smart PlayCast touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a head-up display and 40+ connected car features.
Besides, the company is planning to launch the Toyota Hilux pick-up truck which was unveiled on 20th January in India. The Hilux pick-up truck is expected to be priced around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). As the Hilux is quite similar to the Fortuner, it is likely to share powertrain, components and features with Toyota’s best-selling SUV. Upon launch, Toyota Hilux will rival the likes of Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
Toyota has now joined the list of car manufacturers like BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi that recently announced a price hike for their vehicles by up to 3.5% starting April 2022.
