It is unfortunate to see a Scream movie without Sidney, but I understand her decision," Arquette says.

The bumbling cop from Woodsboro has spoken out about a Scream 6 movie without Sidney Prescott.

David Arquette responded to Neve Campbell's announcement that she would not be...

...sixth installment over a salary dispute. Despite Arquette's concern that Campbell's decision is unfortunate.

The actor tells ComicBook that he would love to have her on board (along with the studio).

Sidney has been left out, but I understand her decision. "This must be balanced to fit a budget and make a movie".

As Arquette tells ComicBook, Campbell's departure from this film does not represent a definitive end for Sidney's character.

Fans may see Campbell in future episodes, he says. Campbell announced Monday that she is leaving the film.

"I regret to inform you that I will not be making the next Scream film," she said in a statement.

"As a woman, I have worked extremely hard to establish myself as valuable in the industry, especially with Scream."

The movie Scream 5, in which Campbell and Arquette both returned, as well as Courteney Cox, grossed nearly $140 million worldwide.

Over the course of its run, the entire franchise has grossed nearly $744 million, according to Deadline.

The filming of Scream 6 is scheduled to begin this summer, with a related release date of March 2023.

Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding are all returning for Scream 5.
