"American Idol" just obtained a great deal wider, with frontrunner Kenedi Anderson's surprising withdrawal from the competition.
Show host Ryan Seacrest announced the information in a clip by Christina Perry, which also drew applause from Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.
"You saw there was no ballot information during Kennedy's performance," Seacrest said.
"Given that we previously taped these shows in Hawaii, Kennedy has made the decision to withdraw from our program for personal reasons."
"We send her well dreams, and obviously, we have amazing talent on this historic season,
…with more legendary 'Idolizer' performances turning up for you right now."
Anderson is a favorite to win as she auditioned with Girl Gaga's "Applause", which led her to award her one of three platinum tickets,
"You could be the greatest celebrity we've ever seen before," Brian told Anderson,…
…which has been viewed more than 4.9 million times on YouTube. "I'm sure your musical journey for the rest of your life has just begun."
Sang Cost Withers' "Lean On Me" with fellow candidate Jordan Chase and Bruno Mars' "Speaking to the Moon" for the showstoppers round.
