The Portland Trail Blazers have confirmed Gary Payton II's multi-year deal with Aaron Goodwin.
According to ESPN's Marc J. Spears, Payton will sign a three-year, $28 million deal with the Blazers, after returning to the Warriors.
He also has ties to Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, with his father, Hall of Fame guard Gary Payton, born in Oakland.
After attending Oregon State for two years, Payton played for the Seattle Supersonics.
Payton finally found his groove in Golden State after bouncing around since his rookie season in 2016-17.
In terms of his role with the Warriors, Payton spent most of his time as a dunker, rather than a point guard.
Payton primarily played as a lockdown defender, posting a defensive rating of 100, good for 40th in the league.
He shot well against some of the league's best big men (35.8% from 3 on 1.7 attempts per game).
